Graduation Is Near . . .

Special thanks to Mr. Jenkins and to the FFA members who took goodies to a local nursing home over Christmas Break.  HHS appreciates all FFA does for the community.

Steven Cauthron has been accepted to West Point’s Summer Leadership Seminar (SLS). This is the beginning in the process of possible admission to West Point. This is strictly merit based, unlike admissions to the academy, where a nomination must be made by a Senator, Congressman, or even the Vice President.  Steven applied on January 10, 2012 and received his acceptance letter January 21, 2012.

Each summer, the United States Military Academy offers highly-motivated, strongly-academic high school Juniors an intensive Summer Leaders Seminar. This opportunity lets cadets experience Cadet life at West Point. This year the SLS will be held in two Sessions: Session I: 2-8 June 2012; Session II: 9-15 June 2012 at West Point.

The Hephzibah High School DECA Chapter competed in the DECA State Competition on February 23-25, 2012, in Atlanta at the Omni Hotel.   Eric Wilder placed 1st in Free Enterprise (Economics) Testing, Sterling Ryans placed 2nd in Job Interview, and Kindall Cochran placed 7th in Business Administration Management.

These students will advance to the International Compettion in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 28-May 2, 2012.  Hephzibah High School will be the only school from Richmond County represented at this event.

The HHS Tennis Team would like to thank The Central Savannah River Area Tennis Association (CSRATA) for their generous donation of two cases of tennis balls. The tennis balls will be used in our high school matches. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Way to go, Matt Bishop!
